Frequently Asked Questions
What is Scrum?
Scrum is an Agile framework used to manage complex projects, primarily in software development, but it can also be applied to other fields. It was first introduced in the 1990s as a method for managing software development projects, but it has since been adopted by many other industries.
Scrum emphasizes continuous improvement and adaptability, allowing teams to respond quickly to changing requirements or market conditions. By breaking projects down into small, manageable increments, Scrum helps teams deliver value to customers more quickly and efficiently.
Who is a Scrum Master?
A Scrum Master is a role in the Scrum framework who serves as a facilitator and coach for the Scrum team. The Scrum Master’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the Scrum process is understood and followed by the team, and to remove any impediments that might prevent the team from achieving its goals.
The Scrum Master acts as a servant-leader to the team, working to create a collaborative and productive environment. They facilitate the Scrum events, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives, and help the team to continuously improve its processes and practices.
What level of education is required?
There are no specific educational requirements to become a Scrum Master. However, it is recommended that individuals have a basic understanding of Agile principles and practices before enrolling in a Scrum Master course.
There are two main Scrum Master Certifications. The Professional Scrum Master (PSM) and The Certified Scrum Master (CSM). PSM 1 and CSM are first-level certifications.
Ultimately, anyone who is interested in learning about Scrum and becoming a Scrum Master can enroll in a Scrum Master course and pursue certification. The focus is on the skills and knowledge required to effectively implement and facilitate the Scrum framework, rather than formal education.
How long does it take to learn Scrum?
It is typically a 6 weeks (2hours per day, 2 days per week), live online or in-person course that will teach you about the scrum framework and how to become a successful scrum master. Do you need a degree to get a Scrum job?
While having a degree in a related field such as computer science, business administration, or project management can be helpful, it is not a requirement to learn or practice Scrum. Scrum is a methodology that can be applied in various industries and domains, and individuals with diverse educational backgrounds can benefit from using Scrum to manage their projects.
Is Scrum difficult to learn?
